my favorites: san diego eatzzz

It's no secret I love California and no secret that I love myself some sweet treats.

Today I wanted to give a shout out to three of my favorites--and folks, these are tried and true suggestions. These are not just the latest and greatest, these are spots that have been around since I lived there as a little girl and are still just as delicious today. Hope you like yourself some doughnuts, because two of them are doughnut stops!

Beef n' Bun
Get yourself a burger, some fries (or their onion rings are also delicious) and then make sure to order one of their famous shakes! Chocolate or Peanut Butter Chocolate are my favorite! The plain chocolate is hands down the best chocolate shake I've ever had in my life. I'm not even being dramatic. And granted, I did grow up with this--so I'm obviously a little biased, but check out the Yelp reviews (I'm not the only one that feels this way)

Right down the way from my grandma's house growing up, this placed rocked our world when we were little and continues to rock to this day. The best maple bar you will EVER have--right here ladies and gentlemen. Go early though, they will run out!

VG Bakery
Did I mention I love doughnuts? Yeah, I do. Sadly my home now (Houston, TX) just doesn't do doughnuts like SoCal does...I have yet to find a place I love as much as my California doughnut stops. Someone please move to Houston and start up a legit doughnut bakery--I will come buy from you every week I promise! VG is so nostalgic for me. We'd stop here on our way to the beach all the time growing up. It's still just as delicious as I remember it being back then. My favorite is just the classic glazed.

There you have it, my top three sweet treat stops in SD. Next time you're in the area, try them out! You won't regret!

Any of my readers have their own favorites out there that I should know about?! I'd love to hear all about them!
